The Kazakhstan Economy

Kazakhstan is located in Central Asia and is the 9th largest country in the world. It occupies more land than Western Europe, and is the business center of 56 million Central Asians. It is immensely rich in natural resources particularly oil & gas. Oil production in 2004 is estimated at 1.3 million barrels per day (bpd), and is forecast to be over 3 million bpd before 2020.

Due to its vast oil resources and liberal economic policies, since 2000, the Kazakhstan economy has been growing at more than 9% per year, which means that it has been growing faster than Russia and has been the fastest growing economy in the CIS for the last 5 years.

In addition, the local currency has been stable for more than five years, inflation is less than 7%, unemployment is about 8%, government tax revenues are increasing, gold and foreign exchange reserves are almost US$ 9 billion and the new National Fund established to handle the surplus oil tax revenues has a current balance in excess of US$3 billion. Foreign trade for 2006 is estimated to continue to grow at an annual rate of about 20% with imports projected to grow to US$13 billion/year and exports to US$ 22 billion/year.

Kazakhstan is a member of the five-country Eurasia Economic Community, along with Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and together with Russia has applied for WTO membership which it hopes to achieve in 2008.

Food and Drinks Industry in Kazakhstan
In year 2005, Kazakhstan's food processing companies will manufacture more than US$ 1,800 million of domestically processed foods. The vast majority of these firms require modern equipment and technology to allow local producers to compete with imported food products.

Exhibition Venue

FoodTek Kazakhstan'2009 is being held in Kazakhstan's most central exhibition venue, the International Exhibition & Sport Centre. This facility is in the center of the city. International Airlines

Almaty International Airport has been completely re-built and opened in 2004. Currently Almaty receives flights from Lufthansa, KLM, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, China Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, Aeroflot and TransAreo.

FoodTek Kazakhstan is the largest, longest established and most international food industry event in Central Asia. It is held as part of the International Food Week Kazakhstan which focuses on all aspects of the food and agro industry. In 2008  this exhibition featured 160 companies from 22 different countries, including Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Poland, Republic of Belarus, Russia, Spain,  Sri Lanka, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Turkey and Ukraine.

Exhibition Organizers

FoodTek Kazakhstan'2009 is being organized by TNT Productions, Inc., a specialized exhibition and television production company. In the past fifteen yeas, TNT has produced over 200 industry events which have been held in virtually every major city in the USA. Since 1987, TNT has produced numerous specialized Russian/CIS exhibitions including exhibitions in Almaty, Kazakhstan since 1995.
