 Defense & Security 2012 Welcome to the U.S. Pavilion for Defense & Security 2011 (Thailand)! The Defense and Security 2012 exhibition is supported by the Thailand MoD at the highest levels. The 2009 exhibition featured 208 of the world’s leading defense technology suppliers from 28 different countries and included 12 national pavilions. The exhibition occupied 13,500 sqm’s of exhibition space and attracted more than 8,000 visitors from 49 countries including 118 senior defense officials in top level MoD delegations from 20 countries. The four largest defense buyers in South East Asia are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia & Singapore which are now spending annually between $3.5 - $4 billion on military equipment. The government of Thailand has recently requested the armed forces to prepare a “wish-list” of military acquisitions needed over the next 10 years. These acquisitions will be divided into two periods 2011-2015 and 2016-2020. Total acquisitions that will be requested are believed to total over 400 billion Baht (US$ 12.5 billion).
