Mittal Steel Temirtau (Ispat Karmet)
One of the main exhibition sponsors is Mittal Steel Temirtau which is one of the largest single-site integrated steel plants in the world. Located on the banks of the Nura River, it covers about 5,000 hectares and has a steelmaking capacity of 5.5 million tons per annum. The company has one of the most modern steel plants with excellent infrastructure facilities. It also has its own captive coal, iron ore and power. Coal reserves amount to 1.5 billion tonnes. Iron ore reserves top 1.7 billion tonnes. The company operates a 435 MW thermal power station. It has maintained its cost leadership position by continuously upgrading its technology and equipment. Mittal Steel's integrated steel plant employs the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) technology. The steel complex can broadly be divided into: coke making, iron making through blast furnaces, steel making, ingot casting and hot rolling.
